Matt Damon told a room full of press at the Cannes Film Festival that he would not be returning for a fourth Jason Bourne film. Here is an account of some of the conversation thanks to Variety.
So the question now becomes, will the Jason Borne series move on without Damon? The James Bond series did that and is working out just fine. But in many senses, this is different since Bourne’s story is a continuation while Bond’s film’s are more episodic than anything else. Could the series continue with a new actor at the helm? And if so, who?
Too bad. But Borne is a killer/murderer.
I’d like to see him take Kiefer Sutherland’s place as Jack Bauer on 24 in a few years. He is the only person I can think of that can fill Jack’s (Kiefer’s) place. He can be a hero in that role!
I believe that is it for the Ludlum written Bourne books. So maybe they should end it.
I think that they should continue the Borne movies because they are so great! I own the first and second one and really want the third one! It would be great if Damon would continue being apart of the movie.
It is a shame that Mr. Damon does not want to make more
Jason Borne movies, he really fits the role, and I really
enjoy the films. I hope he reconsiders, and make more
movies, it’s really his best works.

I think Mr.Damon is considering a long career.
If he were to actually read this I would say this to him.
“I can understand not over doing yourself in a series to limit your screen presence for other roles.
However, the Borne series has a lot of long term potential.
I would love to see the series continue and do think audiences would not believe the “Borne” character unless it was you playing it.”
As talented as he is I think he could fit well into many other roles.
Mat, take the hand that has been given to you and take the pot.

We need one more Borne movie to tie up the loose ends left from the third one. Jason and Nicky are still running and we need to resolve that. They had a real relationship going and that needs to be developed more. There are other Treadstone “assets” they need to deprogrammed. Treadstone needs to account for their mistakes and some resolution to the issue of the “absolute power” that they had. I’m sure this could be done in one more movie. Come on Matt, go for it.
